‘FORENSICS CRIME ANALYSIS’

7:30PM- 9:00PM, Ages 12-18
On September 13, 2018 Russian cosmonauts discovered a hole in the Soyuz spacecraft attached to the International Space Station.  Further investigation led to speculation of sabotage.  Evidence collected during this spacewalk was brought back to earth to solve the mystery of which NASA astronaut is the culprit. This powerpoint presentation will be an introduction to all disciplines of the forensic laboratory. Hands-on exploration with Mary Dawson will have the teens examining different patterns of their own fingerprints using magnifying glasses, magnetic dusting powder and brushes, as well as the different types of DNA, where to find DNA on evidence and how to collect a sample.  They will take home an identification card with their own  fingerprint, handprint and DNA sample.  Once the mystery is solved everyone will sample a delicious ASTRONAUT treat.
